I am an artist who loves to share & help people on their own journeys through my youtube channel with over 650k subs! I have always loved art but went to architecture school to find a stable job. After 2 years, I decided to take the plunge and focus on my art. 3 Years out I am still on the grind looking forward to meeting my fans in person for the first time!
Usually you can find me drawing on my Ipad pro with Procreateon my Cintiq. I enjoy illustrating characters the most, especially depicting raw/sensual natural moments. I specialize in human anatomy and perspective, along with constructing faces & expressions.
Artists that inspire my style are James Jean, Kelsey J Beckett, J.A.W Cooper, Ilya Kuvshinov, Zeen Chin, Ramonn90, Alberto Mieglo, Glenn Keane, Jin Kim, Kim Jung Gi, Ahmed Aldoori, and key Mochizuki.
▶What app is that on the left? VIZREF! Only available for ios though. ▶How do you Stream your iPad? I just connect it to my Mac Studio via the included usb cable. Then I use OBS to capture the screen as it appears on the Qucktime app. On Windows, I used to use the app "Airserver" or "ApowerMirror" But they don't work well on apple silicon.
▶How did you come up with "ergo josh" I really love the anime ergoproxy so thats how it came to mind. Josh is also my name. Ergo means therefore in latin and I created my name at a time in my life where I felt that was all there was to me. "Art therefore Josh". Deep huh?
▶How long have you been drawing? My whole life. I remember tracing coloring books and magazines in kindergarten during snacktime. I moved onto origami, crafts, how to draw manga books, and then realistic pencil portraits. I discovered anime and digital art in 2014.
▶What (X) Do you use? Tablet: Cintiq Pro 32” + Wacom Pro Pen / 2021 Ipad Pro 12.9” + Apple Pencil Software: Clip Studio Paint / Procreate Apparel: Smudge Guard (helps my hand glide on the screen) Ergo+ Grip, Screen Protector: I use the Paperlike Matte Screen Protector.
▶What canvas size do you use? Usually nothing less than 6k pixels on one side, and always 300 dpi.
▶When did you start drawing? I started tracing things as a child and moved to origami. Then I got some anime/manga books and eventually got my first realistic drawing book. I was hooked onto drawing hyperrealistic portraits in pencil on paper with the grid method. I got my first drawing tablet in 2014 and never looked back. My last serious traditional piece was a half finished drawing of Daenerys Targaryen.
